How to block ads on your web browser
Ads and other types of commercials are so present that you cannot use a web browser or a phone without them. The situation is even worse when you want to use your smartphone and download free apps. Every day you get some ads and recommendations. With the web browsers situation is a bit better. You see ads only when you want to visit a website. But every website has ads, and a lot of them. Beside they are annoying, they slow down your internet and your computer. Luckily, there is a way to block them.
If you use Google Chrome, open it and type Adblock. Click on add to Chrome and you are done. You will get a window that will inform you that Adblock is installed and you are done. Just restart (close and open) Chrome.
If you use Firefox, type Adblock plus. This version doesn’t require restart. Click on add to Firefox and when it is done, restart Firefox. The same procedure is for Opera.
Adblock is a free program that is effective but not entirely. For example, it cannot block those commercials on YouTube, when you must watch it 5 seconds. Also, ads are evolving, so Adblock cannot detect them sometimes. In that case you can block ads manually. Right click on a banner, image or ad and click on block image. Then select create a new filter and you are done.
Remember that some websites need a pop-up that Adblock can block. In this case you must disable Adblock. Click on Adblock icon (upper right corner) and choose disable.
