FACEBOOK ROLLS OUT FEATURE FOR USERS WHEN THEY DIE
Your Facebook account can now be permanently deleted when you die.
In addition to permanently deleting your Facebook account, the new feature which is being rolled out also makes it possible for your account to be operated by someone else when you die.
According to Facebook, the two features were requested by users who gave their feedback on its memorial page policies.
When announcing this great feature which will only be in the US for now, Facebook said,
"When a person passes away, their account can become a memorial of their life, friendships and experience.”
"By talking to people who have experienced loss, we realized there is more we can do to support those who are grieving and those who want a say in what happens to their account after a death."
The new feature also makes it possible for one to download an archive of all posts, the information on one’s profile as well as all the photos that were shared on its platform.
This is something that Facebook has been working on for some years now and they do hope that it will help friends and families deal with the loss of their loved ones following a series of cases which have been given tons of attention with family members wanting to either delete or gain access to the Facebook accounts of their loved ones who passed away.
Once case involved a father who wanted to use Facebook’s look back feature so as to create a video that will bring out some of the best and popular moments of his son’s profile.
But due to the fact that he could not access the Facebook account which belonged to his son he was unable to make one.
