The Netatmo Welcome Camera
Wouldn’t it be nice if we were notified always when our kids come home while we are away from home at work or getting groceries? Well, Netatomo has solved this problem. They have launched Netatmo Welcome Camera which exactly does that. This cam does not capture continuous video but it takes photos when a face is detected in the room and then our smartphone receives a push notification. Photos taken on this camera are saved locally on a SD Card. Because of its Strict Face Based technology, it won’t be able to tell us when a rock comes flying in but if someone tries to enter the room after breaking the window, the intruders face will be notified on the smartphone. It is very sleek and can fit in the palm. Due to its size, it can be discreetly placed in the room without attracting anybody’s attention towards it. It can capture up to 130 degree of field view which makes it possible to nearly view the entire room. The photos taken from this cam are sharp 1080 pixel in resolution. It also has the ability to click photos in the dark because of its Infrared LED technology making it easy to catch if young teens sneak in or out in the middle of the night. It can also be programmed to alert us when specific doors or windows are opened. There is not initial process to log our faces or the members of the family in Welcome. Once the cam is placed in the place where we want it to be in, it starts snapping photos. Each new face will be sent to the smartphone. Once it’s in the smartphone, we can custom set it to turn off notification for specific family members.
